Sacrifice

I used to be your angel,
Your light in times of dark,
Your love and life and dream come true,
But now I have lost you.

Said some things I didn't mean,
And lied a little bit,
To help you to get over me
Until one day you'll see:

I wasn't all you thought I was,
Not even close, my dear.
I've fallen short on many counts,
Am worth a small amount.

Apart from me you're better off,
Tho my sacrifice does hurt
