Away From You

Can’t say goodbye,

You wonder why,

And push me forth

Away from you.

Too scared to lose,

Cannot just cruise

Away from you,

Time crashes in.

I feel so blue

Away from you,

Burdened to go,

Detach too soon.

Away from you

I’ll remain true,

And miss you so,

But please, don’t go.

Falling

Hold me tight and don't let go,
My darling boy you'll never know
How safe I feel when we embrace,
The heartless world don't have to face.

So pull me close and feel my heart,
One touch from you, begins to start.
No matter what I say or do,
Excuse me while I fall for you.

A touch, a kiss, a word, a glance
To spark the light of our romance;
You make me smile and bring me joy,
Thank you so much my dear sweet boy.

So gaze at me with sure blue eyes,
Can't look away aft thousand tries;
That I'm transfixed is very true,
Excuse me but I fell for you.

Identity

So in eighth grade, we had to write these poems with a strict format and it was so lame because it hindered the creative spark. One of the poems we were required to write was an Identity poem. Being a girl, I naturally picked a rose. I don't like the complete poem that I wrote, but a couple lines stand out as some of the better ones. Here is one-

Roses, which can show love without even a single word being spoken

And the final stanza-

If I had the power to choose my life, my destiny
I would be a rose
Glorious and refined, radiant and patient
For what else would true love fall for
If not a rose, steady and true.

Mom

Also written in eighth grade...

Adults call her Audrey
And children call her Mrs. Moore
But I call her mom.
Mom, who smells like chai tea latte and amber romance
Whose hair is a golden version of the angel hair with which she decorates the house at Christmas time
Mom, who tells me to always use good judgment.
There are angels dancing over you with singing, she says
And after we go shopping or to Starbucks she says to us kids that this just isn't one of those things that you tell your father
Mom, whose voice strains to keep above a whisper but watch out! when she gets angry she'll roar like a lion
Or if you sneak up behind her she will shriek like a cat
Mom, who grew up on a farm and can emulate the voice of any animal she wants.
Mom enjoys curling up by the fire and reading a novel that I pick out
Or, if the weather approves, going on a long walk with my father.
Mom is my biggest fan
She likes to buy me pretty things and has an eye for style
But most of all my mom loves me and enjoys time spent with me.

I Am

I also wrote this in eighth grade.... haha four years ago. So strange.

I am scarred and unafraid
I wonder about life beyond death
I hear screaming voices wailing throughout my head
I see the same old thing day after day unchanging and yet
still people pretend to enjoy themselves
I want to know the answer to all of life's grueling questions
I am scarred and unafraid

I pretend to be happy
I feel deaths dark doom silently approaching
I touch the sweat upon my brow
I worry that I will not make it out
I cry out in longing for love
I am scarred and unafraid

I understand that it is not meant to be
I say one thing but mean another
i dream of a day with no strife, no worries
I try to carry on with my head held high, a smiling face
I hope for a life of peace
I am scarred and unafraid

Death

In eight grade, we were required to write 8 poems for class. Today, I found a small notebook containing those poems. Here is one called Death:

An all too familiar noise pierces through the night air
Rocking the foundations of the earth
Ricocheting through the walls and in my head
I feel the echoes coursing through my veins

Towards me
Always toward me

Knock, knock, KNOCK!

I know that
knock
For it has visited here before
It took granddad
It took grandma

It took Sadler

It stole my heart

I know it is not satisfied
It has come back for the rest of me
For who else would it be here for if no one else is around?

I try to RRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUNNNNNN, it follows me
I stumble

Where is the S P A C E ?
I cannot see
With flailing arms I grope forwards into the unknown

Where to go? Where to hide? To disappear!?

In Here, a voice beckons
I follow it

Transfixed.

But I realize, too late
It is a TRAP

Don't take me!

Please no! NO!!!

I'm not ready! Look at the time
It doesn't hear me
Just looms overhead

I try to make a break for it

But too late, it has me
I am
Out of places to RUN, out of TIME.

My Knight

so hard to know

where i should go

moving so slow

i see your face

unending grace

i walk this race

unto your place

faced toward the prize

you tell no lies

everyone dies

you should despise

my sin and lies

cruel alibis

cut down with scythes

with sun not bright

i lose my sight

walk through the night

toward your light

i think i might

shout with delight

i've found my knight

and you are him.
