Me and You

This past summer, I was sitting in the back seat of my car on the way home from Canada, and this poem sprung into my mind. Never before had I written poetry, so it was pretty weird that a whole poem formulated in my mind in about ten minutes. Seeing as I did not have paper, I typed this out on my phone, saved it as a draft, and now am putting it on the computer. It's called "Me and You".

The world was empty, my heart so black,

Then I met you and life came back

Into my eyes

It’s no surprise

That I fell hard for you.

To live again, with heart so free

Prescribed with the eyes to see

Your lips, your eyes

But not your lies

Which undid me in the end.

These words you say, they’re so untrue,

Whatever happened to me and you?

My heart it cries

For compromise,

For truth without the pain.

I’m losing you, where did you go?

I thought I loved you but now I know

It’s all a dream

I didn’t mean

Those words I said to you.

As I lay my head to bed

I ponder thoughts which hide unsaid

Between you and I

My heart will die,

My wishing won’t come true.

I wished for you near every night

To see again my eyes so bright.

They danced for you

But this you knew

Before the light went out.

Now all is done, you went away

To another girl, another day.

My heart it sighs

While I surmise

Why I mean naught to you.
